On September 19, 2008, SAIC Motor established its own automobile brand at its Lingang base - the Roewe 520 Sedan.
The initial production volume for the SAIC Motor at the Lingang base is planned at 150,000 sedans annually. Its five major shops: pressing, body, painting, assembly, and engine, all use first-class technology.
In terms of energy conservation and environmental protection, the Lingang base takes the lead in the domestic automobile industry, adopting water-soluble paint for the body and chassis.
