A tradition of wine making goes back nearly 3,000 years in most European countries, or even further if you count Greek myths. "The great variety and cultural background of Greek wine makes it different from the others," said Konstantinos Lazarakis, a master of wine, during a presentation at the third International "Kerasma" Conference on Greek Gastronomy and Food, Wine and Spirits Industry Partenariat, held in Athens earlier this month.
In Greek vineyards, there are few grape trellises, instead grape vines crawl on the ground.
"Greek wines have distinguished features thanks to the natural geographical advantages of the country," says Anastasia Livanou, export area manager of Boutari Wineries.
