Warm winter for them

The symbolism behind the opening of the first commemorative relics park for the May 12 Sichuan earthquake yesterday is self-evident: the nation will remember the heart-rending disaster forever. But it does something else, just as important. It reminds us that we should go all-out now to guarantee a safe and warm winter for people in quake-hit areas. Just as we did six months ago to save lives.

Thanks to united efforts from governments and society, reconstruction work has been carried out in full strength and the life of people in the affected region has returned to normal.

The investment plans unveiled by the National Development and Reform Commission on Friday for post-earthquake rebuilding again come as a blessing to local people. Some 167 billion yuan ($24.45 billion) will be poured into rebuilding basic infrastructure.
