2 detained for attacks on police

SHANGHAI: A man and a woman have been detained for separate assaults on police officers, the city's police bureau said yesterday.

On Friday, a woman surnamed Chen was arrested for attacking Li Jun, an officer with the Putuo sub-bureau, after he stopped the car in which she was traveling for driving on the wrong side of Tongchuan Road.

As Li was speaking with the driver of the vehicle, Chen snatched a document from the officer's hand and scratched his face, police said.
