Special Supplement: Shenzhen reports strong growth in IT industry

Shenzhen registered an 11.5 percent growth in gross domestic product (GDP) in the first three quarters of this year despite global financial chaos.

Boosted by the hi-tech industry, especially the electronic information industry, industrial output of sizable enterprises rose by 14.5 percent year-on-year to 1.12 trillion yuan during the period.

Incremental industrial value from the IT sector grew by 16.4 percent to 111.35 billion yuan, 4.9 percentage points higher than the city's average, significantly lifting the economy.
