Dinner Ladies

If their foody names aren't enough to whet your appetite and get you out to the Mao Livehouse on Saturday night, then consider that Caffe-in, Guai Li , Cake Bomb, Kamutang, Orange Factory and Wu Wei Dou, are an amazing playbill, offering you a night in the company of some of China's most rocking female-led bands.

While a lot of China's new rock and pop bands seem to be a boy's only club, this is a great opportunity to see what the girls can belt out. With musical influences ranging from Joan Jett and Suzy Quattro to Avril Lavigne and Japanese Pop Idols, the night promises to be a mishmash of music, from the bubblegum-punk pop of Caffe-in to the skater-emo sound of Kamutang and the thrashy metal musings of Guai Li.

With such a broad range of music on offer this night promises to sate the appetite of anyone not still listening to The Osmonds. Whilst it's being touted as "Ladies rock 'n' roll night" (with discounted ticket prices for women), don't expect ladylike behavior from these wildcats!
