Health of journalists

China Daily | Updated: 2008-11-08 08:00

On Chinese Journalist Day, which is today, an analysis of the results of medical checkups on more than 20,000 journalists should serve as a wake-up call to all working in this field.

It found that 97.5 percent of the journalists involved in the checkups were in poor health, which means they were at risk to contracting various diseases if their health continued to deteriorate.

Compared with the average percentage of 73.1 per million with such health conditions, journalism can be deemed a profession likely to cause health problems.
