Poor cotton sales
Half of the cotton in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region remained unsold, the Xinhua News Agency reported yesterday.
The China Bank of Agricultural Development confirmed yesterday that by the end of last month it had used 22.35 billion yuan ($3.3 billion) of funds earmarked for 2008 by the central government to provide loans to firms to buy cotton.
