In the ruins of the collapsed Hongbai Primary School, reporter Fu Jing discovered several students' drawings that had survived the cave-in.

One of these artworks, depicting a logger cutting down trees and scrawled with environmental protection messages, was later auctioned in Beijing. On Oct 29, the 100,000 yuan ($14,600) in proceeds were donated to the school in rural Shifang township in Sichuan province.

The cash will fund English-language projects for the school, providing money for volunteer instructors to travel to the area and for training local teachers.
