The Institute of Jewish Studies (originally named the Center for Jewish Studies) at Nanjing University was established in May 1992, following the establishment of full diplomatic relations between China and Israel in January that year.
Its founding principle is to meet the growing demand for Judaic studies in China, promote the study of Jewish subjects among Chinese college students and achieve a better understanding between the two peoples: Chinese and Jewish.
Since 2001, the institute has increasingly responded to the needs of its expanding programs with a series of fund raising activities.
