Ice skating rink to open
A Dubai developer says it has built an Olympic-size ice skating rink in this desert boomtown.
Emaar Malls Group says a 38mm ice bed will host recreational skaters, on-ice performances and international hockey matches. The ice is three times thicker than the US hockey league standard. The ice rink will open on Thursday.
Dubai already has an indoor ski slope and a dining lounge, made entirely of ice, despite the city's sizzling, year-round heat.
