Chinese director Huang Ying's new drama Our French Menu features the notable pairing of Huang Rui and Chen Xibei and has a storyline that most people can relate to not altogether comfortably.

It is about a young couple who go to a top-class French restaurant to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary. It all seems perfectly romantic but it turns out the husband had only booked the swanky place to impress his wife and she'd only gone along to keep him happy. The teaming of Huang, who was excellent in the drama Born to be a Bulb, and Chen, better known as a singer, is a compelling reason to watch this production at Chaoyang Theater.

The drama also reflects director Huang's avant-garde style and he employs frequent set changes to great dramatic effect.
