New housing move beneficial

The government's measures to shore up the housing market is not geared to saving developers, says an article in Wuhan Evening News. The following is an excerpt:

At the State Council meeting chaired by Premier Wen Jiabao on Oct 17 it was stated that the government would expand the supply of housing for low-income earners and reduce home transaction fees to encourage more people to buy houses.

Qiu Baoxing, vice-minister of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, said, "all city governments should be granted some degree of freedom" in their measures to shore up the housing market.
