Special Supplement: Italy helps out with quake relief efforts
In the wake of the earthquake that struck Sichuan province on May 12, Italy reacted rapidly and efficiently. On that same day, the Italian government offered its contributions to emergency efforts and to relief assistance.
The total of Italian contributions for quake relief efforts stands at 3.36 million euros ($4.53 million).
Financial contributions were made via multilateral channels and humanitarian flights delivered goods to the population. Through local authorities, blankets, tents, first-aid kits, and food supplies, were then sent to the most hard-hit areas.
