Children's eyesight 'getting worse'

The eyesight of primary and junior high school students in the capital is getting worse, a report has shown.

The Beijing education committee sponsored eye tests for 1,775 students on Sunday, and the results were worse than those achieved in a similar examination held in 2005, China Youth Daily reported on Wednesday.

Just 10 percent of students had "good" eyesight, compared with more than 30 percent in 2005, the report said.
