More cash for elderly
Li Bin, minister of the National Population and Family Planning Commission, said at a work conference in Changchun, Jilin province, that the annual 600 yuan ($88) benefit paid to parents aged 60 and over will be increased by 20 percent to 720 yuan.
Li said the increase, to take effect next year, will help rural families maintain their living standards.
