SE Asia plans bailout
Southeast Asian officials and their Asian counter are studying plans that will allow them to rescue financial institutions facing liquidity problems or holding distressed assets, Philippine Finance Secretary Gary Teves said. Organizations such as the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank are also joining in the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations' efforts to set up such a facility to help lenders in the region if needed, Teves said in an interview in Washington.
