With 1 year to go, host Shandong quietly confident

Preparation work for the 11th National Games is in full gear, according to the vice-governor of Shandong province.

"All the preparation work is going smoothly and effectively," said Huang Sheng during the 1-year countdown press conference in Beijing. "We are doing everything possible to make sure of a successful National Games."

The 11th National Games, China's biggest domestic sports gala held every four years, will open on Oct 11 next year in Jinan, Shandong province. Over 40 teams from different provinces and areas will take part.
