Concerto Koln of Germany will make its debut in Beijing at the Forbidden City Concert Hall on Oct 26.
Founded in 1985, the ensemble is known for performing with period instruments. It has more than 50 CD records and international awards to its credit. Its musicians seek out the orchestral and operatic repertoires of the 17th and 18th centuries, and follow the historical norms of instrumental performance.
The Beijing concert will include Johann Christoph Friedrich Bach's Symphony in D Minor, Georg Friedrich Handel's Symphony HWV 339 in B Major, Giuseppe Sammartini's Harp Concerto in F Major and other pieces by Pietro Antonio Locatelli, Giovanni Battista Sammartini, Antonio Lucio Vivaldi and Evaristo Felice dall Abaco.
