The National Theater Company of China stages the modern drama Ming, which draws inspiration from the story of the emperors of China's Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) to narrate the Skakespeare masterpiece, King Lear. As the first performance of the 2008 Beijing International Drama Festival, the play includes elements of traditional folk arts, cross-talk and even taichi.
