Costlier cars

Chinese vehicles prices rose for the first time in at least three months in September because of increasing raw materials costs and higher taxes in the world's second largest vehicle market.

Average prices for locally made vehicles gained 0.59 percent from a year earlier, Cheng Xiaodong, head of vehicle price monitoring at the National Development and Reform Commission, said yesterday.
