Program on track

An international effort to eliminate elephantiasis is on track and has protected millions of children against the disfiguring disease, proving to be one of the "best buys" in public health, researchers said yesterday.

Since 2000, the World Health Organization (WHO)-sponsored program has administered more than 1.9 billion treatments to over 570 million people at an estimated cost of $0.50 per person, their analysis showed.
