Man dies in outback dirt

An Australian man found dead in the outback scrawled the word "HELP" in the dirt next to his body as he lay on the ground dying of thirst, police said yesterday.

An outback cattleman found the man's body on Tuesday, lying next to a makeshift shelter he had built to protect himself from the searing desert heat and an empty water bottle, police said.
