During the inaugural World Mind Sports Games in Beijing, an 18-year-old Chinese student is leading his fellow young team members in competitions against some 2,000 "bridge athletes" who hail from more than 100 countries.

The international competition - which brings together players who will test their mental prowess in a variety of popular games - is being held in Beijing from Oct 3 to 18. Think of it as a sort of World Cup event, only for mental gymnastics.
