Scared resident mistakens friends for thieves

A man surnamed Zhang saw figures whispering in a dark corridor leading to his apartment in a residential building in Tianjin on his way home one night last month.

Believing they were burglars, he dared not step into the corridor and phoned police, who hurried to the corridor for help but found the "burglars" were just Zhang's neighbors.
