Military officials from Seoul and Pyongyang held working-level military talks yesterday but failed to make significant progress, local media reported.
The talks, the first official military contact between the Republic of Korea (ROK) and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) since the ROK President Lee Myung-bak took office in late February, finished within 90 minutes after the two sides met at the truce village of Panmumjom, the ROK's Yonhap News Agency said.
According to Yonhap, Colonel Pak Rim-su, chief delegate of the DPRK for the talks, said at Panmumjom that the DPRK proposed to hold the meeting in a bid to demand the ROK to stop spreading "propaganda leaflets" throughout DPRK.
