The low labor and land costs in west China are often cited as Chengdu's main competitive advantages. Yet that is not the whole story. The capital of Sichuan province has a business climate that not only makes mass production possible, but also facilitates the transportation of raw materials into the city and finished products out to the world.
Chengdu has now put forward a comprehensive transportation plan, with the city as the hub connected to Bohai Bay, the Yangtze River Delta and Zhujiang River Delta as well as other cities in the world. It aims to build a high-speed, convenient, efficient and safe transportation network that integrates aviation, railway, roads and other means of transportation.
