Fireworks ban

The State Council Work Safety Committee said yesterday that no fireworks will be allowed at public entertainment venues. A fire at a club in Shenzhen killed 43 on Saturday due to fireworks being set off.

The committee also said that all clubs, hotels, stores, marketplaces, stadiums, and other public entertainment facilities must not block emergency exits, make sure fire alarm systems function, and stop the use of inflammable polyurethane materials in decorations.
