Let students develop in a diversified way

The call by an educator to stop selecting sanhao xuesheng (model students who are supposed to outshine others in moral character, studies and physical training) last week sparked heated debate on both questions.

Gu Mingyuan, president of the Chinese Society of Education, proposed at a seminar that such selection should be stopped among middle school students. He said when only a few were honored with such titles, those who were not, were affected psychologically.
