Market crash? It's time for gay abandon!
This week I lost more in shares than I earn in a good year doing my stand-up comedy routine at teahouses. It's no laughing matter. I started "playing the stock market", as we Chinese call it, at the beginning of the year and was advised to put my faith in the Shanghai bourse. It has plummeted 64 percent and as a result my personal worth has shrunk faster than Usain Bolt runs the 100m.
The only crumb of comfort is I'm not the only one. My good friend and occasional karaoke partner, Taiwan TV host Zhang Fei, told me he has lost $1.2 million. He advises me to get out now while I've got something left but I think I will do the exact opposite on the basis that he freely admits he doesn't know what he's talking about.
The Sohu web portal has been covering the Wall Street crash from an interesting perspective. It uncovered a CNN news segment reporting on the financial meltdown at Lehman Brothers, from its headquarters in Times Square, New York.
