Petitclerc grabs fifth gold medal

Canadian Chantal Petitclerc won her fifth gold at the Beijing Paralympic Games when she was crowned champion in the women's 1,500m T54 yesterday.

With only five gold medals up for grabs at the Beijing Paralympic Games today, China has secured No 1 position in the medal standings for athletics events with a total of 37 gold medals.

In wheelchair fencing, Hong Kong's women fencers Chan Yui Chong and Yu Chui Yee yesterday claimed two gold medals, beating their Chinese counterparts Yao Fang and Zhang Chuncui into second place.
