Ashes in the run for an Osacr?

What's new

Ashes of Time Redux, a new cut of Hong Kong director Wong Kar-Wai's 1994 wuxia film Ashes of Time, is among five Chinese-language films being screened in Toronto at the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival. The film won rave reviews at this year's Cannes Film Festival.

Other films include Jia Zhangke's Cannes Golden Palm-nominated 24 City and Yu Lik-Wai's Plastic City, a Golden Lion competitor at last week's Venice Film Festival. The annual Toronto festival is widely considered by filmmakers as a warm-up to the Oscars.
