(www.chinanews.com.cn) Court decides adopted son must be returned to mom Li Jianfeng was recently ordered to return his 4-year-old adopted son to his biological mother Huang Mei in Dengfeng, Henan province. Li's wife Li Suxia delivered a daughter while Huang Mei gave birth to a son in the same ward in a local hospital on May 7, 2004. Huang had only been pregnant for seven months and was worried about the boy's premature birth. When Li found Huang did not really want her son, he offered to adopt the boy, and Huang agreed. But four years later, she brought him to court for refusing to return her son. The court ruled Li must return the boy to Huang, and Huang must pay 30,000 yuan ($4,400) in compensation. Li complied with the decision and said he hoped he and his wife could visit the boy in the future. (Dongfang Jinbao News) (China Daily 09/12/2008 page5) |
