China will become the largest consumer market in Asia by 2009, said Minister of Commerce Chen Deming. Speaking at the 12th Xiamen International Trade and Investment Fair on Monday in Fujian province, Chen predicted entertainment, housing and tourism will expand in the domestic market. The annual consumption growth rate has been at 13.1 percent for the past five years. Chen predicted China will become the world's largest luxury market by 2014.
