Beijing debut a Spanish treat for guitar fans

China Daily | Updated: 2008-09-09 07:58

If you go to Spain to experience the best of the country, there are two things you'd better not miss: seeing Picasso, Goya, Miro and Dali in the museums, and spending nights in bars, drinking and dancing Flamenco to the local guitarists.

Flamenco and guitar music are in Spaniards' blood. The nation has numerous renowned guitarists, among whom the Romeros are called the Royal Family of the Guitar. In fact, it is said that the Romeros are to the Spanish guitar what the Three Tenors are to opera.

The New York Times said of them: "Collectively, they are the only classical guitar quartet of real stature in the world today - in fact, they virtually invented the format."
