Blackmailers arrested

Two men who claimed to have information about a planned bomb attack and used it to try and extort money from the mayor of Weihai city in Shandong province were arrested on Thursday, the Qilu Evening News reported on Sunday.

The men made two calls to the mayor's office last week and demanded 500,000 yuan ($73,000) for the information. They were arrested in the city of Yantai, Shandong, the report said.
