Special Supplement: Tulou buildings added to UNESCO list

China has added another wonder to its portfolio of UNESCO-designated World Heritage sites. The 32nd session of the World Heritage Committee held in Quebec, Canada on July 6 placed the Tulou earth buildings in southeast China's Fujian province on the list.

The committee selected Tulou buildings for their magnificence and unique style, as well as their durable and ingenious structure.

The UNESCO World Heritage listing includes a parcel of land with 46 earth houses built among rice, tea and tobacco fields.
