Kite-flying farmer goes for Guinness world record

Local residents of Raoping county, Guangdong province, gazed rapt at the flight of the 3,000-m-long dragon-shaped kite, created by local farmer Chen Wangsong, for more than an hour on Monday afternoon.

The successful maiden flight of his so-called "king of kites" has spurred Chen, maker of more than 10,000 kites in the past decade, to extend his masterpiece to a length of 4,000 m in the coming months and attempt a new Guinness world record.
