Power plant set to open

The Longtan hydropower station, China's third largest, will be fully operational before the end of the year, its owners said yesterday.

The plant's seven sets of generators, each of which has a capacity of 700,000 kW, will all be put into operation by December, Dai Bo, general manager of the Longtan Hydropower Development Co, said. Five generators have already begun operating, while the others are being installed.
