Electronics industry development
China's electronics industry enjoyed a continuous surge in the first seven months of this year, though it is still far from meeting the needs of developing national economy, said Zhang Xuedong, vice-minister for the industry.
Comparing to the same period last year, production of large and medium-sized computers rose by 180 percent, micro-computers by over 300 percent and single-board computers by nearly 500 percent.
Productions of TV sets and tape recorders also rose to 3.39 million and 2.33 million respectively.
Beijing plans to expand beautify parks
A recent conference on parks and gardens in Beijing decided to expand or improve 11 parks in the national capital in the next five years as part of a drive to beautify the city and fulfill the needs of the increasing number of park visitors.
In the past few years the Summer Palace and Beihai Park have been renovated with new garden facilities, and work has begun on Gucheng, Lianhuachi, Dewai and Tuanjiehu parks.
Exhibition on energy-saving means
A four-day exhibition on foreign energy-saving means opened in Shenyang of Liaoning province day before yesterday.
Forty devices and instruments were put on display in the exhibition, which was sponsored by the Liaoning branch of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.
