$28.7m for quake victims

Canada will match nearly C$30 million ($ 28.7 million) in private donations to assist victims of the Sichuan earthquake, the Canadian embassy to China announced yesterday.

The matching fund will be channeled to humanitarian organizations, such as the International Federation of the Red Cross and the United Nations Children's Fund, said Canadian Ambassador to China Robert Wright.
