In its bid for the 2016 summer Olympic Games, Tokyo has won the support of a group of renowned athletes headed by 1988 Seoul Olympic Games gold medalist Rosa Mota.

Some 30,000 runners and 12,000 volunteers participated in the Tokyo Marathon 2008, which attracted more than 2 million spectators. |
