Sudanese president denies genocide charges

China Daily | Updated: 2008-08-22 07:50

Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir, who was charged with genocide in Darfur by the International Criminal Court (ICC) last month, denied the charges in Turkey on Wednesday, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported.

Bashir was attending a Turkey-Africa economic cooperation summit in Istanbul.

Al-Bashir said the move by the chief prosecutor of ICC encouraged those who do not want peace.
