Campaign of "Double Learning and Double Contests"

A campaign calling upon rural women to acquire knowledge and know about technology and to contest in achievement and in contribution.

In 1989, the All China Women's Federation and 14 ministries started the campaign among all rural women as part of the national efforts to boost agriculture and rural development as well as to improve gender equality. Training courses were offered to rural women on skills and knowledge needed in farming, herding and seeking jobs in non-agricultural sectors. Projects in extensive forms were organized to help rural women develop themselves as well as their families in economic and social terms. Rural women with outstanding accomplishment receive awards from the administrative.
