As well, ATMs that offer renminbi and foreign currency services have also been installed in major hotels and shopping facilities in areas neighboring the competition venues. Foreign currency exchange centers are now operating at the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center to meet the needs of foreign athletes and officials. As the sole official banking partner of the Beijing Olympics, BOC has the responsibility of providing financial support and high-quality banking services to meet a wide range of requirements. Services include foreign currency exchange, cashing traveler's checks, ATM withdrawals, global remittances and the BOC VISA Olympic credit cards. "We will try our best to provide high-quality and convenient financial services for all our guests from all over the world," said He Xingxiang, president of BOC Shandong branch. When the client's requirements cannot be met at venues or in the village, BOC staff will lead the client to the nearest service office. BOC staff is available near Qingdao's Olympic venue ATMs from 9 am to 6 pm. An IT backup team now works 24 hours a day to examine, repair and maintain BOC's service facilities. The bank has also selected 16 staff members proficient in foreign languages to work at the sailing venue. (China Daily 08/17/2008 page20) |
