Off Track ..... Celotti out with assault charges pending

Australian Matt Celotti left the Olympic Village Saturday after being dumped from the judo competition to face assault charges back home in Melbourne.

Australian officials say they knew nothing of the charges facing the 29-year-old when he was selected for the team and are considering tightening their regulations in the future so it doesn't happen again.

"We cannot independently ascertain whether somebody is facing a criminal charge if they are not prepared to provide that information," Australian team deputy Chef de Mission Peter Montgomery told the Australian Associated Press.
