Xu Liming, born in February 1954 in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, is a board member of the Chinese Calligraphy Association and a teaching professor and doctoral supervisor in Chinese calligraphy at Nanjing Art Academy.

Xu has been studying Chinese calligraphy since early childhood.

In 1982, he received his bachelor's degree in art with a major in painting from Nanjing Art Academy. Three years later, he obtained a master's degree in Chinese seal carving calligraphy from the same academy.
