Island playing key role in provincial economy

Changxing Island Port Industrial Zone is playing an increasingly prominent role in Liaoning province's strategy of developing a coastal economic belt.

The industrial zone attracted 54 foreign-funded firms here in the first quarter of this year, becoming the fastest growing area in Dalian, to which the island belongs.

The zone, established in 2005, covers 349.5 sq km. It includes Changxing Island and four other islands.
