Guo, who with Wu Minxia won the women's 3m synchronized springboard competition at the Beijing Games, is well on her way to becoming one of China's richest women.

Eight years ago, Guo placed second in the 3m springboard final at the Sydney Olympics, losing to China's Fu Mingxia. At that time, Guo received a monthly salary of about 2,000 yuan ($291) from the national diving team.
