Six eastern cities plan out future

Known as the Six Eastern Cities in Heilongjiang province, Mudanjiang, Jiamusi, Shuangyashan, Qitaihe, Hegang and Jixi are the most important economic growth area in the province.

This is because of their abundant mineral resources, rather concentrated urban location, good industrial base of coal and electricity, relatively advanced agriculture, and broad prospects for cooperation with Russia in the economic area.

This year, Heilongjiang province promulgated "the Development Plan on Heilongjiang Province East Base of Coal and Electricity", aiming at developing the east area into a significant economic growth region led by coal-electricity industry with relative industries, comprehensive utilization of coal and electricity resources, fast development of non-coal industries, harmonious development of urban and rural economy with a better ecological environment and a more favorable living environment.
